In the Association, patients and their family members are provided with individual and group psychological support, to help them cope with the stresses brought by the disease and to feel safe and belonging to the community in which they found themselves during treatment, away from home. Through an open and friendly individual conversation and psychoeducation, the psychologist, actively cooperating with the user, seeks to minimize the burden caused by illness, the difficulty of separate life, finding oneself in an unfamiliar city. Support groups are an opportunity to share information, encouragement and advice.
The psychologist engages in counseling related to leisure, organization and/or implementation of activities such as creative workshops, getting to know the city and playrooms, helping families to regain the balance between obligations and rest.
The psychologist encourages users to socialize, reengage in hobbies that make them happy, relax after time spent in the hospital, in the procurement of medicines, in talking with medical personnel, in dealing with the administration related to treatment, in the care of a sick family member, and periods of worry and uncertainty.
By choosing from the activities offered, users can get the information and support they need, cope more easily with a complex family situation, strengthen themselves in the fight against illness, re-establish the balance between obligations and rest, structure their time better and, in the community of employees, volunteers and other users, which becomes their temporary home, acquire new valuable positive experiences: sometimes steals Make lifelong friendships, gain insight into your own ability to cope with difficult situations and experience the power of mutual assistance.
