For what purpose was the Association of Fra Mladen Hrkac founded?

The main mission of the association Fra Mladen Hrkac is to care for patients who come for treatment far from home, in Zagreb. Regardless of the type of disease, gender, age, nationality, creed and others. The association was founded in 2012 with the aim of providing support to people who come to Zagreb for treatment, including accommodation, psychological, spiritual and administrative assistance, as well as practical support to help them cope with the challenges of treatment away from home.

In addition to accommodation, what are the other activities of the Association?

In addition to the program of support during treatment in Zagreb, which is our fundamental mission, we also implement projects through which we help in various ways people with disabilities, children with disabilities, the elderly, the homeless, the poor and people at risk of poverty, Croatian veterans and their family members and family members of the fatally injured, deceased and missing persons Croatian defenders from the Homeland War.

How is the work of the Association financed?

The work of the association is financed by donations from individuals and legal entities from all over the world. In addition, the Association announces and implements various projects financed from the state budget of the Republic of Croatia or EU funds, which ensure the continuous availability of high-quality services to patients and their accompaniment.

How to get free accommodation in the capacities of the Humanitarian Association Fra Mladen Hr?

In order to exercise the right to free accommodation in one of our accommodation facilities, you need to call the official number of the association 099/5533-111(Monday to Friday from 08:00-16:00 hours) and orally submit an application for accommodation. The employee records the request, but users are instructed to call 72 hours before the need for accommodation and check the availability of capacity. In other words, an empty room can be stored for 72 hours. The patient must be accompanied by an adult.

What documentation do I need to have when accepting accommodation?

It is necessary for the patient and the accompanying person to present valid identity documents (identity card and passport) as well as a medical report, referral or certificate from the doctor about the stay in the hospital as proof of the justification of the request for accommodation.

What is the procedure for admission to accommodation?

Upon approval of the application for accommodation, an employee of the association, in agreement with the beneficiaries, arranges an initial interview at the premises of the Association's office at Trg Eugena Kvaternika 9, 10000 Zagreb. After the interview, an employee of the association guides the users to the accommodation capacity. Reception of users is carried out on weekdays in the period from 09:00 to 15:00.

What does the accommodation capacity look like where the users are staying?

The accommodation capacities provided by the association are apartments with two to three bedrooms and common areas. The common rooms of the accommodation capacity (kitchen, bathrooms and living room) are shared with other help users and we ask you to bring home slippers and pajamas for your stay in the Association. During your stay in our accommodation facilities, you will have at your disposal food and all household appliances (beads of dishes and laundry, dryer, iron, hairdryer...) clean linen and towels and hygiene items.

Does the association provide parking?

The association does not provide parking.

What is volunteering?

Volunteering is a voluntary activity in which a person contributes to the community through their own work, without financial compensation. It can be one-time, intermittent or long-term, depending on the type of engagement. It includes supporting people in need, participating in community projects, or helping humanitarian organizations like ours.

Who can become a volunteer?

Any person over 15 years of age can be a volunteer, and persons under 18 years of age need the consent of a parent or guardian. People of all professions, nationalities and ages, including people with disabilities, can volunteer, adapting the activities to their possibilities. In the Humanitarian Association of Fr Mladen Hr, all those who wish to help people undergoing treatment and their families with their work are especially welcome.

What after signing up?

After the volunteer submits the application, an initial interview is organized in the premises of the Association in order to get acquainted with the work and mission of the Association Fra Mladen Hr. During this meeting, volunteers have the opportunity to present their interests, experience and availability, and in cooperation with the volunteer coordinator, the activities that best suit their skills and preferences are selected. All engagements take place with the support of the coordinator or employees of the association. Throughout the process, volunteers have access to information and support from volunteer organizers.

What is expected of me as a volunteer?

As a volunteer in our Association, you are expected to be engaged, comply with the rules of the Association and provide support to users and the team through specific tasks. This includes assistance to users in their daily needs, administrative assistance, social and intellectual support, as well as the performance of physical work. It is also important to be responsible, collaborate in a team and be sensitive to the specific needs of users, providing them with emotional and practical support. Volunteers should be open to training and acquiring new skills to perform their tasks as well as possible.

Where and how do volunteers help?

Volunteers of the Association Fra Mladen Hrparticipate in various activities that support the beneficiaries, including city walks, prayer meetings, culinary workshops, creative Christmas activities and holiday gifts for children in hospitals. Through these activities, volunteers help users in their daily needs, help with the accommodation capacities of the Association, and create community through joint projects.
